Why Hire Us?
Written by Bill Goode, President of A Celebration With Music! LLC
There are hundreds of DJs in Atlanta, probably thousands in the areas that we serve! The best advice we can offer is that above all, you should feel good about the DJ you hire for your event and you should feel comfortable with their ability to cater to your needs. After all, you are the KING! We cannot stay in business (I have been doing this since 1984) unless we make you happy as a satisfied client, willing to recommend us to your friends and associates.
We provide three things that set us apart from any other DJ entertainment you may encounter... Value - You probably are spending anywhere from $5000 to over $50,000 (and more for corporate functions) for the largest event of your life, and you want your entertainment to be the best! Fast-forward to your event. Let's say that it is now two hours after the start time for your event, and you cannot locate the DJ, and he is not answering any of his phones or returning your emergency pages. You spent maybe $200-500 for their fee, and your entertainment is a no-show. What does that do to the value of the other items you have for your event? You cannot entertain with fresh flowers or ice sculptures, your photographer and videographer cannot capture magic moments on film or tape if there is no one to act as your emcee or play your carefully selected music requests, and your guests will leave early, leaving all of that food that cost about $30 a plate to have at your event. In all, the event falls apart, because the cheap DJ demonstrated why they are cheap and they have a low price! If that sours the event and takes the focus away from the food, flowers, ice sculptures, missed photographs, and causes people to leave early, then that should give you the value of entertainment at your event! Even worse, does the DJ walk you through your events? Is there any planning done so the flow of special moments at your event occur easily and with minimal issues? If not, then the pictures and video will not have the "WOW" factor that only can be captured when your DJ acts as a team player and uses the power of entertainment to not only provide a wonderful time, but to make sure the memory of it is captured properly. Rest assured, we will be there. You will be there with your DJ of choice, not one switched just to make a sale! Results - Have you ever met a DJ that does not return your calls from wherever they may be? Do they stick to the plan you carefully drafted with them, then do you take pleasure if they give attention to a detail that makes the day when it could have ruined it? Do you feel that your service would have been less than personal? Did you even meet with the person who would be at your event before you signed a contract? If we promise a DJ Celebration Specialist for your event, you will get the person you want, not a last-minute substitute. You will also get not only a DJ and Emcee, you will get a coordinator, a person who will help the photographer by creating magic moments through dance and music, a counselor, music specialist, Master of Ceremonies, problem solver, and an invaluable resource to insure that everything happens the way you want it, no matter what happens! Benefits - We use every means at our disposal to make sure your event is successful, and you receive every accolade as a result. If people go home at the end with a smile on their face and can say, "Wow! We had a great time," then we have accomplished our mission! Let's face it, the DJ should be worth more than the 8% sales tax the venue/caterer/florist collectively charge. This does not mean we are expensive, but we are not the $375 weekend warrior that just read our published material on how to do weddings and is trying it out on your reception! At the end of the night, all we ask is if we are worth more than the 8% sales tax the others charge, please let us know! :)
What matters more to you...a top quality, experienced DJ that makes the whole day special and does everything according to your wishes......or a cheap DJ that might screw it up or not even show at all?

How long have you been in business? We have been in business since 1984! We started out as Pasadena Productions in South Florida playing high school dances and wedding receptions, and currently have over 2300 events under our belt in Florida, North Georgia & the surrounding areas, and the New York tri-state area. Why do I sometimes get your voicemail instead of you? This is an easy one to answer! The DJ and professional entertainment business performs at events primarily nights and weekends. This leaves just weekdays to visit clients, businesses, and take care of 'behind-the-scenes' housekeeping so we have nothing to worry about but your event when it's SHOWTIME! We choose not to employ a receptionist (although Teresa does try to answer every call live) so we can keep our costs down and keep the rates we charge you lower than average. This does not mean we will never return your phone call, email, or inquiry! In 99.8% of the time, we can reach you within 10 minutes or sooner of your initial call, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! You are also very likely to get a live person to answer, as our Event Specialist is usually by the phone during the week. It is better than 90% we will answer the phone, live and in person! Why do you call yourself a PROFESSIONAL DJ?This is our business! We are CELEBRATION SPECIALISTS, and being a disc jockey is a part of it. We take time during slow periods of the year to attend classes that increase our skillset so you can get the bang for the buck you deserve! We have undergone extensive training and classes/seminars that have been offered by the National Association of Mobile Entertainers, McFatter Institute in Florida, St. Thomas University, Mobile Beat Magazine, DJ3, and others! Add that to 23+ years helping event hosts with entertainment, and it creates a powerful combination to bring to the party. Here's BIG industry secrets that we would like to share with you, and we hope this will help you tell the professional DJ apart from the not-so-professional DJ... Some of the bigger companies around town claim to have professional DJs on staff, to have extensive training through their own programs, to be customer-oriented.... NOT TRUE!!! Many of these companies may or may not be franchises of some so-called national company that really does nothing but sell expensive marketing and accounting services to the DJ company, or they may boast a large staff of dozens of DJs, but their commitment to 'beating' the competition and generating revenue to pay all of those DJs causes them to lose sight of what's important, tending to your needs on a superior and personal level of service. We do not compete with these people. Instead, we think about ways to improve our service to you and provide it in a unique manner that will make you simply not consider another entertainment company. (in other words, we will be the only phone number in your Rolodex under Entertainment. How's that for tending to your needs?) Some of these companies can also be 'agencies' (example, the XYZ Agency). These companies employ only people who specialize in booking your event (sort of a 'bookie'), then track down the least expensive DJ they can hire to simply cover it for their agency. This also means that, despite having your deposit and signed contract, they have not yet hired a DJ to play at your event. What these companies and agencies also do not tell you is that their fee for the wedding may be $1,500 or more, but the DJ they will send out may have about 5 days of training and maybe a year of weddings to his/her credit, and might be making anywhere from $10/hr to a $250 flat fee for the wedding. This is a form of bait & switch and it is WRONG!! These DJs do not have the years of event experience that afford them needed expertise to handle any event in a truly professional manner, and it certainly slights what you have as an expectation from that DJ and the company they are with. Their wedding/event fee goes into pretty four-color handouts and slick ads in the wedding magazines (don't get me wrong, we run ads also). They do not put it back into music, equipment, or better training! If the company you consider hiring continually trains well-seasoned pros and invests in the tools and knowledge to keep their events sizzling, you can expect a BETTER event from that DJ and company than from the others who take a 'smoke & mirrors' approach to marketing, training (if they train at all) employees, and look to trick you out of a portion of your event budget! Oh, one more thing.... When many of these other companies overbook (usually on purpose to get that last $$$), many of them will call us and ask if we can work for them as a SUBCONTRACTOR. We will only do this if the company agrees to pay our fee, if the event host is aware of this arrangement, and there is a contract in place agreeing to all of this in plain English. The reason we even consider this is we do not want to see a bride or event host get into a jam because they were not well-informed of the company's practices up front and they deserve to have nothing but a trouble-free, magical reception. That being said, we have a couple of companies we do this for on a semi-regular basis. These are reputable companies that I have known the owners of for at least five years, and we do not allow our work with the companies to interfere with any events we are involved with. We also back up other DJs on an emergency basis. If they get into a wreck, get sick, blow up equipment, we will be happy to help them! After all, you only have a wedding reception once in your life (we hope)! We maintain backup equipment and personnel, and also have agreements in place through the National Association of Mobile Entertainers, Atlanta Disc Jockey Network, and Art Bradlee's Global Mobile Association to have over one hundred DJs back us up in a crisis! Do you have references? Videotape? The answer is yes (we have references) and no (no video). We opt to provide references from our past clients instead of a videotape. The reason we do this is twofold... If we have done a good job for someone, they are usually willing to give you a personal account of what we did to meet or beat their needs. A videotape (or computer slide show), by comparison, can take a company up to a year to make, use only a few clips, and hide *lots* of disenchantment from you! While we may not be able to invite you to our next wedding event (we also respect our clients' privacy), we certainly can refer you to several past clients and they can paint a more accurate and truthful picture of what we can do for you! If you are viewing a video from a company, chances are you have not even met the DJ who will be performing at your event, and it's likely you may not meet him/her until the day of the event! When you meet with us, you have the advantage of "feeling us out" to see if we will be a good fit with what you expect from great entertainment. We can also answer questions on the spot, go over planning of your event, work out solutions to any issues that tend to sneak up on your event planning, or just share a cup of coffee and a danish! A few good video clips does not make a wonderful DJ! Continually satisfying clients does! Back to Top
How will you Guarantee that your company will be at my event? We put our signature on a performance contract alongside yours that clearly spells out who hired us, where we are to be and at what day/time we are to perform, the price and retainer fee, overtime, power/space/equipment requirements, parking, loading/unloading into the event location and any special needs. Also, as discussed above, we also have multiple backup plans and agreements if some terrible, unforseen event happens that affects your original DJ! Personally, I have never been late or missed an event in all the time I have been in the entertainment business! This includes three New Year's celebrations with severe strep throat, the time some idiot NY officer harassed me coming into Manhattan because of the Georgia license plate on my vehicle, the time Kenny Rogers tried to race me to his new Roasters in Sunrise, FL and almost won (we supplied his sound system for the grand openings on that day), and getting stuck in the elevator at the Colony Square Hotel in downtown Atlanta with my entire DJ setup prior to a wedding in November 1999! What kind of equipment do you use?We use professional sound equipment with high reliability, clean sound reproduction, and a design that can be used under a wide variety of conditions. Our music source is from legally purchased compact discs which have been digitized for use in special software, though we can provide a cassette player if you require something special that can only be played from tape. If you need to see a list or pictures, please click on the EQUIPMENT button to the left. Back to Top
